2012 Featured Quilter: George Siciliano
After retiring from the United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, George took up quilting (his wife's passion) in 1997. He decided to specialize in variations of the Log Cabin block because of the endless design possibilities. He currently has over 150 different variations of this block on his computer's data base.
He has been awarded over 74 ribbons for his miniature works in local, national, and international shows, with 27 of these being a first place Blue. His work has appeared in many publications, including The American Quilter (AQS), Quilters Newsletter, Quilt Mania (published in France and distributed worldwide), Miniature Quilts Magazine, and many more.
George was nominated by the Professional Quilter Magazine for their "Quilt Teacher of the Year" award in 2003 and 2007. He has demonstrated his techniques at the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, KY, and at the American Folk Art Museum in New York. One of his quilts was part of the AQS traveling exhibit, "Man Made Quilts."
**Lectures on both days will be at 1:00 pm. Because of limited seating, tickets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis at 11:00 am.
